Syed Jawaid Iqbal stepped out of a multinational advertising company in 1980 to establish a full service PR agency – CMC (Pvt) Ltd, affiliated with Ketchum USA.
A graduate in Liberal Arts from the Punjab University, Jawaid later obtained a law degree from the University of Karachi. He has represented Pakistan in many regional and international forums. He is also actively associated with a number of social welfare organizations and contributes to leading newspapers, writing on political, social and professional issues as well as international affairs.
As the head of the SouthAsia Forum, he organizes stimulating seminars and conferences on important economic, social, political and cultural issues. He also provided valuable support on a voluntary basis to art education when he was Chairman of the Central Institute of Arts & Crafts, Karachi. Being one of the four co-founders, he serves on the Board of Directors of the National Academy of Performing Arts. In addition to this, he sits on the Board of Gillette Pakistan, Professional Education Foundation and Pakistan First Initiative.
In 2003 he founded the Society for Global Moderation, a private-sector think tank, strengthening tolerance, inter-faith harmony and democracy. Based on his already published articles in national and international print media, his book On Record was launched in 2004.
